NY Safe Act and California Penal Code
Mar 15th 2016
The NY Safe Act and the California Penal Code's definition of an Assault Weapon refers to weapons with certain design characteristics. The AR-15 Receiver Spur, made by S&B Products, is a collaborative effort of a retired NY State Trooper and a Tool and Die Maker to create a modification that relieves the rifle of the pistol grip design characteristic. As stated in the California Penal Code section 12276.1 - "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon" - means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top exposed portion of the trigger while firing. The AR-15 Receiver Spur does not allow a pistol style grasp and will not allow the web of the trigger hand to be placed below the top exposed portion of the trigger while firing. If the pistol grip is the sole design characteristic that defines a rifle as an assault weapon, the S&B Products Receiver Spur, a permanently modified replacement part, relieves the rifle from that definition.
